Family History Talks: The Sky Was Brass; The Earth Was Ashes: The Great Peshtigo Fire

The Great Peshtigo Fire was a momentous event in U.S. history, but it was also a very personal trauma and tragedy for those caught in its wake. This presentation will tell the story of the fire while taking a closer look at the experience of some families and individuals. Karen Vincent Humiston is a long-time family historian who has spent nearly three years researching the Peshtigo Fire. Her book, The Sky Was Brass; The Earth Was Ashes: The Story of the Great Peshtigo Fire will be released in 2022.
